Lara began her career by proposing and spearheading the creation of HBO OLE in Latin America, the first pan-continental, satellite-delivered premium service in the world. HBO OLE was launched into 21 countries in 1991. Five years after the launch of that service, HBO OLE was officially valued at half a billion dollars and is HBOýs most successful international venture to date.

At HBO Lara also proposed and developed HBO Selecciones en Espaýol, which was later expanded in to HBO Latino.

Later, as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Foxýs Latin American Channel, Lara directed the launch and supervised all aspects of the network---one that transmitted to the entire Latin American continent in three languages. Though outstaffed and outspent by her competition, Lara took the company to the number one position in the region.

While still at Fox, Lara proposed and implemented the expansion of Fox Kids by launching the networkýs first offshoot, Fox Kids Latin America.

Lara is a graduate of Stanford University and has been honored with numerous awards for creative and marketing excellence in the broadcast industry. She is a fellow of the prestigious National Hispanic Leadership Institute and she has also been a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School.

Lara has also been featured by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the ýOutstanding Women in Hollywoodý and has received the Corporate Achiever Award from the Hispanic Academy of Media Arts & Sciences. Lara was also spotlighted in Simon & Schusterýs publication, ýLatino Success: Insights from 100 of Americaýs Most Powerful Latino Professionalsý.
