Bennet Kelley

Originally from Providence, R.I., Bennet attended La Salle Academy where he was Valedictorian. He left Rhode Island for Washington, D.C., earning a B.S. in Political Science from The American University & also graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center, Bennet joined Howrey & Simon in Washington, D.C. and moved to their Los Angeles office in 1994. His practice focused on complex litigation and antitrust issues.

In 1999, Bennet left Howrey to become General Counsel of ETM Entertainment Network, where Bennet gained attention by suing Ticketmaster and blocking their attempt to sell tickets at ETM venues. Bennet also has worked in-house as:​

Vice President of Business, Legal & Governmental Affairs at Network Commerce, a diversified internet services company;
Vice President of Legal & Strategic Affairs, Hi-Speed Media, an internet marketing & e-commerce company; & Asst. General Counsel, Director of Governmental Affairs & Privacy at ValueClick, one of the nation' largest internet advertising companies.
While at ValueClick, Bennet won praise from a Congressional Committee for his contributions on spyware legislation.

In 2007, Bennet opened the Internet Law Center where he represents companies and individuals involved in the digital economy. The firm publishes a newsletter entitled Cyber Report which was included among the top 100 Internet law resources & named top newsletter by the Los Angeles Press Club in 2011.

Bennet was co-chair of the California Bar Cyberspace Committee from 2009-2010 where he led the effort to develop a primer on Cyberspace Law for incoming state lawmakers. In 2011, Bennet was chosen to be part of a delegation of American experts to meet with leading Chinese netizens in Bangkok. In 2012, he was one of three private sector lawyers selected by U.S. Department of Commerce to present on e-commerce issues at 17th US-China Legal Exchange in China.

Bennet is also host of Cyber Law & Business Report (CLBR) which airs weekly at 10AM PST/1PM EST on WebmasterRadio.fm. The show, which launched in February 2011, focuses on major legal and business developments in the Internet space.
